Pokemon Felties

Image
You know why Mom's are so great, right? Because they can always find the one gift you need, that you never knew you needed. Case in point, this past Christmas, I just asked my mom for money. I had a bunch of miscellaneous things I wanted (and really I'm so indecisive that even I wasn't sure what I really wanted until after Christmas). So my mom happily got me a gift card... but she also got me this: That's right a whole book committed to Pokemon Felties. And I'll admit it, at first I thought it was a little silly. I did like Pokemon in my youth and I do plan on taking Lion to make a Charmander once I get my tax money back. But it didn't mean that I wanted to make little felt Pokemon. And then I started reading the instructions (which if you've read any of my blog posts to this point, you would know I'm really bad at) and I realized that this was actually a solid manual for working with felt in general. And so I knew I had myself a new mini...

Mason Jar Coozy

Image
I've spent the past couple of weeks at a loss of what to make for my monthly crochet project. I was going to make an infinity scarf, but I couldn't decide on a color or what kind of yarn I wanted. And I've looked at making glove, but I'm not sure that I'm ready to make a pair yet.  I thought I finally had something when I discovered a crochet cat nest, but even after getting all of my grandmas extra yarn, I don't have the right size needed.  So I just began searching Pinterest for any crochet project that I was interested in. That's when I discovered this: The Project: Crochet Can Cozy Photo and instructions from  With a Grateful Prayer and a Thankful Heart I instantly knew, I could rework the project to fit over my mason jar cup. TBT: Updates on Past Projects

Image
Since I often just finish my projects in time for the blog post, I thought for this Throwback Thursday I would give an update on how some projects are fairing. So here we go Project 1: Elbow Patches Here is how my elbow patches turned out: And I left off writing I didn't know how I was going to wash it since I used fabric that shouldn't be washed. Well I actually stopped wearing the sweatshirt for a while before I finally sucked in up and started washing it. And I'm happy to report that after a coupe of times through the wash cycle it is still looking all right. So I guess the solution is not to not wash it, but wear it too often, so it doesn't need to be washed as often. Project 2: Glitter Dipped Mug I hope I made it clear that I created my glitter dipped mug with a sort of homemade approach. (That varied greatly from  White Houes Black Shutters ) So while I was hopefully it would work as well, I was a little nervous that it wo...

Crochet Cat Hat! (Meow!)

Image
Winter is coming... and getting a little closer everyday. (Yes even done here in Florida, things are starting to cool down). So for my monthly crochet project, I decided to make a hat. (or at least try to) The Project Make a Cat Hat Instructions from Persia Lou Results So I knew early on that I was going to need more yarn than I started with. But I figured since it was making a cat hat, that it would be all right. I mean cat's are all sorts of colors, right? So I started making my hat with black yarn  and mixed in a black to white ombre yarn to create some spots. And so when I switched over to the cream yarn , it would blend a little more evenly together. Here's how it looked once I finished it and stitched the sides together. As you can see, half of the the front is blackish and the rest is cream colored. And because I was wearing it, Blue had to try it on as well. I crocheted the brim. But I really wasn't feeling it. I think wa...

Jazzing up my Coffee Mug

Image
So the other day I was searching my Pinterest boards for inspiration to fill out my November project list and I rediscovered a pin to create a glitter dip coffee mug. And I knew that it would be a great way to start November. (And a great way to transform an old mug I have!) The Project Glitter Dipped Coffee Mug Instructions from  White House Black Shutters Results To be fair, I didn't read the instructions all the way before I started thinking about this project. I just simply looked up decoupage and realized I could just use my homemade mod podge and acrylic sealer . And after I started I look to see that Anne Marie from White House Black Shutters, used dishwasher safe decoupage . But I figured I'd be all right, since we don't have a dishwasher and I have to hand wash my dishes. So here's the mug I started with: (You can find the mug at Amazon here ) So to begin with I had to clean my mug and I scrapped off the one side in which 'Bes...

Painting Pumpkins!

Image
I realize its getting very close to the end of October, and as of now I have yet to mention anything about Halloween. Which makes sense, since I work on Disney property and they start celebrating Halloween by mid September, so by the time October comes around I'm over Halloween. That and for the past couple of years I haven't had Halloween off (or enough time to decorate for it either!). But since Blue is getting older, I figured now would be the time to get over all my hang ups about Halloween and just start celebrating it. And since its my first real year of getting back into the swing of things I wanted to start small. So I got Blue and Lion some pumpkin candy buckets and also some small pumpkins. (Not big enough for carving, but big enough that they can play with them). And that's when I thought of a great project idea (that would also be great for my little munchkins!) The Project Painting Pumpkins! and trying to get into the Halloween Spirit! Resu...

Crafting Up a New Kindle Cover

Image
Some how my Saturday posts have all been my latest sewing projects. But I always meant for Saturdays to have posts about my latest craft projects as well. And I thought there was no better way to kick off my crafter side than by creating a new case for my Kindle . I've had my Kindle for about 3 1/2 years now. And the case I got when I bought it wasn't exactly the highest quality to begin with  and after having to deal with first Blue and now Lion, it has definitely worse for the wear.  So I've been playing around with the perfect case to make. And after a little research and looking over projects on Pinterest , I finally settled on the perfect case for me! The Project Make A New Kindle Case instructions from  Come Together Kids Results The first step is also the worst step. I'm such a fan of books that its hard to think about ripping one apart. But out of the books I own, I knew I could find one that would work. And I did. I found my cop...

Bullet Journal

Image
You know over six months ago I welcomed the new year with my new planner and a plan to get organized. That lasted probably a week longer than my post. I overfilled that planner too much and it was just too bulky to work for the real world. Not to mention, my life really isn't busy enough to need that big of a planner. So for the past couple of months I've been either making a lot of to do lists or trying to remember everything I have to do and the list of projects I want to focus on (and I swear its a good thing I'm not famous, those lists have gone anywhere and everywhere). Its not the best system, but at least it was better than nothing to keep all these wild thoughts organized. And for a while now I've been slowly redoing my office wall, so I was hoping to add a to do list dry erase board there, but I just couldn't find a printable to do list that I liked or that would work in the frame. Somewhere in my adventures on Pinterest, I stumbled across an idea t...
