So I didn't make it in time for Christmas with my play Christmas tree project. And I guess all is well with that. I had to work late on Wednesday and I guess I figured it was too late in the season for anybody else to start working on their own play Christmas tree. Which is fine it gives me 11 months to perfect the post about it. Anyway now that that project is finally complete, I'm back to working on Lyon's crib bumper and the start of Blu's art area. So hopefully I'll get a post about either one of those this week. And for me personally I'll be setting up my 2016 planning binder and my blog planning binder this week, so hopefully starting in January I can start posting regularly and start getting the blog exciting! So here's to a great end to 2015 and an even better start to 2016!

Happy Monday All! I realized this Wednesday that even as I had some words flowing for my Children's play Christmas write up, that I really can't wait for Christmas to get here (and the new year really!). After Christmas I plan to get a mini Binder and fill it with blog planning pages, so that I can try to work on write ups during the week and weeks leading up to a post and that way I don't keep promising you something that doesn't happen. Anyway other than that, I have been furiously working on my Christmas tree. Ornaments are finished, I'm just waiting for FedEx to deliver my package of velcro backing so that we have an effective way of attaching them to the tree. And I've been working some woodland creatures to live on it during the off season because this thing is going to be impossible to pack. And I've also finally finished Blu's table and chair set. That is going to be the start of his art area/ make a mess area. So that maybe I can distract h

Ugh... well I tried to write on Wednesday night, but I just had the worst case of writers block (and even now I can't figure out the words I want to use for that post). So I'm thinking that on this upcoming Wednesday I can just relax a little and write about this really cute Christmas tree I ended up making. It really is adorable and by Wednesday I should have the first round of ornaments ready to put up. Other than that I've just been planning for the new year, when maybe I won't be so busy and can finally give this blog a little more loving. And just some plans I have to get it moving onward and upward But that's going to take some time and some energy that I unfortunately don't have.  Anyway this week I hope to get posted my Play Christmas Tree project and hopefully get working on a write up for the start of the boys art/ mess area.

Well another week come and gone... and still have yet to fully plot out my projects I've got on the works. And well by now I've got a few going on at the same time. I swear I'm either working on three projects at once or none at all. So I'm in the final stages of my felt Christmas tree project. I'm just making some ornaments to hang on the tree. Which actually is more tedious than anything else as I'm learning hand stitching techniques as I go along. So hopefully I'll have those ready for Christmas. I've finally started to get around to putting together this little wooden table I bought from Ikea for Blu and Lyon. That way I can make that the base for my art/ make a mess area for the two boys. And finally I've still got the crib bumper that I'm working slowly on. So hopefully I won't try cutting off my hand again on Wednesday and at least complete a write up about one of those projects... probably the crib bumper...

Yes I know I missed last week, but the Patriots played last week. And well I meant to write it on Sunday but I decided to sleep instead.  Perhaps that's the problem I'm having with this blog. Everything else seems to be more important than this. So here we are a month into my blog and I think I've finally diagnosed the main problem. So now maybe from here on out I'll give up my working on projects on Wednesday nights and start posting some posts about them. (And quite frankly the holiday season is brimming with projects, so in theory there should be plenty for me to write about) That could work  and then maybe I might actually slowly start having a following. Well it definitely could work. All right now for a recap in my projects, I've got the base of my felt Christmas tree made and I've slowly began to cover it in green felt leaves. I just need to get a little more stuffing so I can close the hole in the top and some more green felt to make more leaves to c

Well this certainly has been an interesting end to a very productive week (in real life, unfortunately, and not on the blog). I know its been three days since the attack on Paris and I'm sure everybody is sick of hearing about it. And I've taken the past three days to escape into my projects and into football. Because when I allow myself to think about how those people in Paris were just living their lives and got murdered in the worst way possible, it makes me frightened about the world I'm eventually going to have to send my kids out into.  And as a mother, I just want to tell my babies that I'll always be there to protect them, but really there's nothing I can do to stop them from being in the wrong place at the wrong  time. Anyway back to the fun stuff. I'm almost done with the second short side of the crib bumper. I just have to finish sewing on the A and then do a C and I'll be done with the project for about a month. In the meantime I'm goin

Another week down, and at least progress has been made. I did it! I finally did it! Just a quick post about my next project I'll be working on once I finally finish the crib bumper I have decided though that once I finish this side of the bumper, I'm going to put it on hold so I can get rid of a couple of quick projects off my to do list. I've found a project for a foam arm holder for the car seat because as Lyon quickly approaches his fourth month and four month check up, he's only getting heavier and the car seat doesn't help much. The second is a felt Christmas tree from Joann Fabrics. Which I think is brilliant in a household with two small children. Especially with Blu who will be 2 and a half this Christmas and still can't be trusted around a real tree or with real ornaments. And I just think it will be a nice project to kick off the holiday season. And once I do that I'll probably work on a couple more holiday projects before returning to the cr

Boys Room

Image
One of my many projects is working on making the nursery/boys room. This is what it currently looks like: As you can see it's tight quarters in there. But all they really need it for is to sleep, so I'm really not too concerned about it. And well Blu's side is decorated with paintings I made for him and spare pieces from the bedding set to tie the room together. So for Lyon's half I have plans to make wall art for him similar to this idea: Except that I want to include the lion (from http://www.urbanthreads.com/products.aspx?productid=UTH7829), hurricane flags, and a quote to inspire him. I just haven't been able to find a quote that I like. So for now that project is in limbo

Another Monday comes and still not content in the blog. Which is probably why there aren't any followers. My main problem is that I know this damn crib bumper is going to take forever, so I'm putting all my time into it instead of finishing up posts for this blog. Beyond that I'm also having trouble breaking away from my boyfriend to have time to blog. He feels all he does is watch the kids, so when I'm awake and at home its my turn to watch them. Its certainly a real frustrating thing, when all I'm asking for is an hour every other day. Not all day. I think maybe if I expressed it that way he might consider it. Doubtful, but still just maybe it might work. And then maybe I can get this blog truly up and running besides Monday posts trying to explain why I still don't have anything finished for it yet. So say a little prayer that I can find time to get something posted this week!

Hello All! I know I haven't posted anything in a week! But this is why the blog is in beta, so I can figure out a schedule that works best for me and my family. And the first step in that it figuring out how and when I can sneak off to write. Because quite frankly as  wonderful as my boyfriend is, if I told him I was doing this he would just roll his eyes and make a snarky comment about it.  And beyond that a lot of my spare time right now is being consumed with Lyon's crib bumper (which I'm determined to have finished by the time we move him into the boys room). I however have been doing a lot of thinking about the blog and posts I'd like to make, so that you can see how everything's coming together. So hopefully within the next couple of days I'll have a post about the current state of the boys room and the different projects I have going on in there. Along with an update on the crib bumper. Other than that I have no real immediate plans to the blog. So I

Monday Free Write

Hello All! When I had the time to keep up a writing journal, Sundays used to be my day for free writing. And I really enjoyed just having a day to just write whatever I feel like writing, so I thought I would bring it over to this blog. Except maybe it won't be a complete free write, instead just a look back on the week and a look forward on things to come. So without further ado, here is the first Monday Free Write... So I know I haven't made any actual blog posts, but I am in the planning stages of the first one. I have been using all my little free time over the past few weeks working on a crib bumper for my second son Lyon. And well there's still probably a good month or two more work to go into it before its finally finished, but its getting there. And from all the leftover fabric, I have plans to make many more projects. So expect blog posts on all of those projects. And because I either work on multiple projects at once or none at all. I also have in the works w

Welcome!

To the few people who have stumbled upon this blog, welcome! Right now it doesn't look like much, hence why it is in beta. Over the course of the next year I plan to come up with a permanent name for the blog, figure out exactly what I want to write about and figure out the best schedule to post entries that work for you (and for me). And then maybe if I'm feeling crazy I'll attempt to learn html. But for now my main focus is to get this blog up and running. So until then here we are at The Jenn Lietz Blog (in beta)!
