Folding A Fitted Sheet

Image
I remember being in college when Martha Stewart's daytime show came back on the air. (The one she did after prison). I'm not sure how many times I saw her have a segment on folding, but I remember at least seeing it more than once. (I believe her segment on folding t-shirts was quite popular.) And so I watched her several times teaching the audience how to fold a fitted sheet. I never participated, though. (I'm not sure why, I guess I thought I had no problems folding a fitted sheet. Silly me!) So now here I am 6 or 7 years later and I realize that I really didn't know what I was doing. And I wish I had paid more attention to Martha. So since I'm on laundry improvement spree, I thought there was no better time to learn how to properly fold a fitted sheet. The Project Learn How To Fold A Fitted Sheet instructions from this photo: (photo from Sleep Number .) Results So here we go; folding a fitted sheet! (It can't be that hard can it?) Fir...

Life Hack: How To Hang Your Sweaters

Image
The Hack How To Hang Your Sweaters (So you don't get hanger bumps!) Photo and Tip from  One Good Thing by Jillee (Please check this website out. I follow it on my blogger feed and I find new ideas to try all the time.) Results I love this hack! I wish I found it when I was in college and used to wear sweaters on a regular bases, but you know I'm glad to have found it now. All you have to do is just drape the sweater over your hanger, like so: (I left my arms folded out to show off the elbow patches ) And it really doesn't take up that much more room in my closet either! So get out there and hang your sweaters right!

DIY Bathroom Charging Pocket

Image
My favorite part about doing this blog, is now when I come across a problem in my life, I not only can find the a solution for them, but I can also share the results with all of you. Case in point is how I charge things in my bathroom. I normally charge my smaller electronics (my fitbit, wireless headphone, shower speaker, etc) in my bathroom. The only problem is the that the cords hang at weird lengths and none of my electronics can charge and rest on my counter. And often time I just end up drapping my headphones or fitbit over the plug. This causes the plug to not sit flat in the outlet and sometimes the headphones or fitbit don't charge. Which is completely frustrating. So one day while I was scrolling through Facebook, I came across a video creating a charging pocket out of an empty bottle. And I've finally found the perfect bottle to test it out with! The Project Create a Charging Holder In My Bathroom Inspiration from Buzzfeed Results To be fair ...

A Great Way To Organize Your Dresser

Image
This project actually isn't a new project, but just one of my favorite organization tips. I actually discovered it when Blue was a baby and Mike would mess up his entire dresser to find the perfect onesie for Blue to wear. And then I was frustrated with the big mess and I couldn't find any of the onesies I wanted to put Blue in.  So I knew I needed to figure out a solution (and fast!).  Luckily I remembered pinning an idea to store shirts in a dresser easier. I knew that if it worked for adult sized clothes, that it would definitely work well for baby (and toddler clothes), too. The Project Organize Blue and Lyon's Dresser (I looked by I couldn't find the owner of this image, but this is the best tutorial I found to organizing a lot of t-shirt in a tiny space) Results Luckily my boys are still small enough that they can share a dresser, but that means I store more than t-shirts in their individual drawers. So I had to expand this tip to include everyt...

A Week With My Bullet Journal

Image
I know, I know, I just wrote about my bullet journal last week, but I just love it so much that I wanted to share how it was going after I had a full week (and almost a week and half with it!). No I still haven't added washi tape to the seams (even though I probably should). I discovered over the course of the week  how to better organize my thoughts so the bullet journal works better for me. And I thought I would share so maybe it will help you out as well! The first thing I realized is that having a daily to do list is nice, but I like to over schedule myself (or I just work on what I want and don't care about what's on my to do list) and was constantly putting down the same item on my to do list for multiple days. So I decided to make one big weekly to do list. And since I had one big to do list, I no longer needed to take a full page for everyday of the week (plus it was taking up a lot of space in my journal!). So I had to adjust my journal and ...

July Monthly Project: Upcycle Desk Organization

Image
Well July flew certainly flew by! So you know what the means right? Its time for my July upcycle project! For this month I thought I would share some of my favorite upcycle desk organization ideas (and upcycle some old blog posts in the process!).  I found four of my favorites, so you can spread them out over the course of the month (that comes out to about one a week) or you can easily make them all in one weekend. It truly doesn't matter because in the end you'll end up with a more organized craft area and save the world from more trash! Project 1: Ribbon Holder Project instructions found at  Curbly Experiment #1 and Results This was actually one of my very first projects I posted on the blog. Here's how my original ribbon holder turned out: . I really loved this ribbon holder, but in the end it just wasn't practical for everyday use. It was hard to keep the ribbon pulled through the hole just right (it was either too little and it fell bac...

Bullet Journal

Image
You know over six months ago I welcomed the new year with my new planner and a plan to get organized. That lasted probably a week longer than my post. I overfilled that planner too much and it was just too bulky to work for the real world. Not to mention, my life really isn't busy enough to need that big of a planner. So for the past couple of months I've been either making a lot of to do lists or trying to remember everything I have to do and the list of projects I want to focus on (and I swear its a good thing I'm not famous, those lists have gone anywhere and everywhere). Its not the best system, but at least it was better than nothing to keep all these wild thoughts organized. And for a while now I've been slowly redoing my office wall, so I was hoping to add a to do list dry erase board there, but I just couldn't find a printable to do list that I liked or that would work in the frame. Somewhere in my adventures on Pinterest, I stumbled across an idea t...
