Happy Monday All! I think I'm finally getting this whole blogging thing down. I know I still have a long way to go until I actually get it running like a real blog, but I'm happy with the progress that I'm making. The funny thing is the more I write about, the more I want to research and the more projects I find myself planning. And really I feel myself becoming a better mom as I start to think of crafts the Blu and eventually Lyon and I can work on together. I just wish I had more time to actually work on that, but I guess I'll get there. Anyway this week I've been working hard on Lyon's crib bumper, finally finishing up my planner (so expect an updated post soon!), working on a Blog planner and doing a little more organizing on for my desk. And really I'll be doing the same this upcoming week.  So here's to only getting better!

Desk Organization Part 1: Taming the Wires

Image
Do not be alarmed at the following picture. This is unfortunately how unorganized my desk looked at the beginning of the year. It's terrible... I know. But this is exactly why my yearly goal is to get our house organized. So over the past week I have done nothing more than search for Craft Room organization ideas on Pinterest. And the only thing I really learned is that people have really elaborate craft rooms with really immaculate organization schemes. Unfortunately my craft area is just my (very messy) desk for now. And even that area I need to serve three different functions. It needs to work as my family command center, my craft storage area and eventually as a work area. So while I'm still on the hunt for creative storage solutions for my desk, I did find a life hack to improve the wires hanging behind my desk (and, as you can see below, to keep them some what out of Blu's reach). Here's everything you'll need to get this project done (Blu

So another week has come and gone. And I finally got a really post out! After I finally posted it (and then nit picked it throughout the weekend), I realized that this blog stuff is really hard work and that I really need to start taking time out of my schedule to work on it. (Whether Mike likes it or not). Because really that planner post is all right, but had I planned it out and started working on it for a while longer, it would have been really great.  This is why, I've bought a bigger binder, so I can start planning out all my blog posts and projects that I would like to post about. So hopefully if I plan everything out and take the time to really hone in on what I want to talk about I think I might start to have something here. The rest of the week I've just been getting back to work on Lyon's crib bumper. I seem to making some good progress on it and hopefully I'll have it together by the time he's 7 months old... probably closer to 8 though... And to kee

Organization Begins with a Plan(ner)

It seems like every year I make the same old resolution: to get my life organized. And you know what, this year I really have no excuse not to do it. I've got two children, a busy work schedule, bills that need to be paid, a blog that I'd like to start blossoming and well quite frankly I'll be turning 29. There is no better time to do it and really if I don't get around to it this year, I'm afraid I'll never get around to it. So to make this year different I've decided that instead of tackling the entire house as a whole it would be wiser to tackle the house room by room (or space by space).  Naturally my first space to tackle is my planner. In year's past I've just bought one in the store (and really there is nothing wrong with them), but this year I decided to put one together myself.  There are several different planner systems if you search on Pinterest, but I prefer the planning system from  Sweet Tea & Saving Grace  (nee One Tough Mothe

So I did write something on Wednesday, but just wasn't any good. It felt forced and I felt like I was writing it with my server voice. So I'm just going to let it sit for now and then try to write it again.  I don't really have a lot to report this week. I've once again began work on Lyon's crib bumper. So now its just sew sew sew to get the letters on! Which hopefully will be done by the time he's a year old! (I didn't have Blu's done until he was 15 months old and it seemed to hold up nicely). And I've also started reorganizing my desk so that I can use it as a command center for my family and as a command center for all my various craft projects. I feel like just having a place for everything in there will help center me. Maybe I'll finally break through my writer's block and start writing some actually posts that matter. And as if that's not enough to make a normal person crazy, I've also slowly start work on Blu's art a

I know, I know, its Tuesday, but well some how we forgot to pay the cable/internet and it got shut off. And even after I had righted to payment, they were in no hurry to rectify the problem until I called them back again today! Anyway here we are! So first post in the new year! And I was all ready to post on Wednesday when I had to stay late at work again. To retify this problem, I've downloaded the blogger app on my phone so I can atleast start a draft of want I want to post and then just pretty it up when I get to the main computer. Anyway with the new year comes new years resolutions. And I know the biggest thing I need to work on is organization. I currently have half the house organized and the other half is in mass chaos. Over the course of this year I plan to slow find a place for everything and try to keep it there. First step in that is conquering my desk. If I can manage to organize that (and keep Blu out of it!) it should set me up for success for the rest of th
